2 Sessions

Wed nights Feb 3, 17 7-8.30pm PST

Instructor: Sharon Kallis

These 2 virtual sessions are opportunities to have some guidance in learning how to handle and use a drop spindle with confidence. The first session covers  fibre preparation options and the steps for drafting and adding twist. The second session is two weeks later so participants have time to practice then we can problem solve any challenges that arise and continue to the next steps for plying yarn, making a skein and washing in preparation for knitting or weaving.

Participants will need to have :

zoom capability with a camera on phone or computer

carders – wool carders or 2 cat/dog metal toothed brushes work

a  drop spindle- if you have another type of spindle the principles are the same and you can adapt what we cover

wool or cat/dog hair- clean fibres from 2.5-4 inches (6-10cm) are recommended

If you are looking to purchase or make a drop spindle please watch this short Anatomy of a Drop Spindle video by Sharon on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOxxFerr5Lk
