Food+Fibres: building relationships in our Indigenous food corridor
October 28th 1-4pm Trillium Park
This afternoon is an opportunity to learn about the seasonal timelines of plants we honour for their gifts of both food and fibre, and assist in EartHand’s autumn planting.
Participants will spend time in the gardens assisting with planting out the salmon shape of the garden beds as well as hands-on time learning about gathering fibres from stalks of fireweed, nettle and məθəɬ ( dogbane).
A simple hot lunch and tea will be provided!
This special afternoon is a part of the Ancestral Food Ways Festival with plant donations from Vancouver Park Board.
Please dress for the weather- event is partially undercover outside as well as open air for the planting component. This is a free event with limited spaces, please pre-register.
This event takes place on the unceded land of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil Waututh) peoples.
The Neighbourhood Matching Fund supports local residents to lead creative art and environmental improvement projects with neighbours in their community.
