Spend Holiday Monday With EartHand!
May is the perfect time for some wardrobe TLC; mend those sweaters you are about to tuck away, and taking a fresh look at the summer clothes you are about to start wearing.
Bring down something holey, needing a patch or a mend, or those tired but loved garments you would love to extend to another life in your closet.
Or just come and get inspired by a range of textile mending/making possibilities; try your hands at a new technique that may start you off on a new mending and remaking adventure!
Speed date activities include:
Wooden button making, patch dye pots, stitched patchwork, felted and knitwear patching, drop spindling for sweater repair and closet hacking tricks including simple hand-stitching for complete garment construction.
After speed dating through activities, participants self-select what area to spend additional time, and everyone leaves with the collectively made mending kits of a linen dyed patch or two, and a wooden button- the results of time in each of the sessions.
Any garments coming for consultation and mending work please ensure are clean and note natural fibres are preferred ( wools, silks, linen, cotton and blends).
Facilitators include:
Anna Heywood Jones, Amy Walker, CZarina Lobo, David Gowman, Jen Hiebert, Melanie Camman and Sharon Kallis. Hosted by Jaymie Johnson
This is an outside event, please dress for the weather- we will be under rain cover if required. Hats, sunscreen, garment layers are recommended for changing weather, and bring a mug for tea and a personal snack.
