May Day Mending

in partnership with Still Moon Arts

May is the perfect time for some wardrobe TLC (Tender Loving Care); mend those sweaters about to be tucked away, and take a fresh look at the summer clothes you are about to start wearing.

Bring down something holey, needing a patch or a mend, or those tired but loved garments and extend their life with patches, strengthening stitches or invisible mends.

We will have skill holders standing by ready to get you started! We have some tools, thread, patches, yarn- and will be offering some “drop spindling services for mending yarn for visible mending, but do bring whatever of your own tools and materials you might wish to use.

Please ensure your garments are clean and freshly laundered!

This is a collaborative ‘Mending Party’ organized by EartHand Gleaner’s Society and Still Moon Arts Society, and facilitated by artists and community members from both organizations.

The event is happening outside, with limited shade canopy at the Colour Me Local Dye Garden.

The site is about a 10 minute walk to the nearest washroom, it is a beautiful quiet little spot with a new cobb shed, tucked in the length of the ravine running parallel to the alley. We some stools/folding chairs and picnic blankets for common use, bring your own as you see fit! We will have tea on site, and be doing some fun botanical prints for mending patches. personal picnics are welcome.

This event is free, but please register through Still Moon’s eventbrite so we can be in touch should we shift the event indoors to a local place due to  rain in the forecast!
